Cease and desist letter is commonly used as an initial step to demand a party to stop certain conduct(s) that:

• infringes your rights

• breaches an agreement

• is defamatory in nature, or

• amounts to harassment.

 

The letter puts the party on notice that continuation of the conduct will result in possible legal action.
